Asia Bizz: Mobile phone manufacturing giant Micromax has made its presence felt in the evergreen tablet PC market in India by launching its FunBook tablet in the market. The company has launched the tablet at a price of Rs. 6,499.

Micromax has launched the tablet especially for the education sector. The FunBook will be manufactured in India at the manufacturing unit of the company in Haridwar.

Deepak Mehrotra, the CEO of Micromax said that the company has a manufacturing capacity of one lakh units per month and they are already looking at increasing the number.

The new FunBook is based on the popular operating system Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform and is powered by a 1.22 GHz processor, 0.3 MP VGA front camera, memory that can be expandable up to 32 GB and 4 GB internal memory.

In order to make  educational content available on the tablet, Micromax has partnered with Pearson and Everonn. Mehrotra also said that their partners would help them to take the device to the various educational institutes. It was further informed that the users have to just pay Rs. 799 for the educational content of a particular class and can get the access to the multimedia content from their partners.
