Asia Bizz: Mobile phone manufacturer Sony has confirmed that it will be launching its Xperia S handset in the Indian market on April 10, 2012. The handset will be the first smartphone under its brand name Sony Mobile Communications after the acquisition of Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson’s 50 percent stake.
The phone was also showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year. Some of the features of the new Xperia S include 4.3 inch scratch resistant TFT touch screen and runs on the Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
But for users worried about the OS need to be rest assured that the smarthphone can be upgraded to the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The new Xperia S smartphone is powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm dual core processor and also has a 12.1 megapixel camera with auto focus. Some of the connectivity features of the phone include Bluetooth, GPS, Wi Fi and NFC.
As an introductory offer, the company is also running a promotion and claims to offer free accessories worth Rs 4,000 with the phone.
The company has not made an official statement regarding the cost of the phone, but it is expected to come at a price tag of Rs. 32,000.
