Asia Bizz: South Korean company Samsung has stopped the production of its upcoming Galaxy tab 2 10.1. The production has been stopped so as to give it a change in its processor.
The company during the Mobile World Congress announced the 7 inch and 10 inch variants of the Galaxy Tab 2 this year. The new tablets are expected to go on sale first in the US.
The Galaxy Tab will feature the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Media reports say that the production of the Galaxy Tab 2 has been halted to upgrade the 1 GHZ dual core processor to a quad core processor and is expected to be in the range of 1.2 – 1.5 GHz range.
The sudden change in the strategy has not been acknowledged by the company, but a higher processor will definitely give the tablet a higher edge in front of its competitors. At present the Galaxy Tab 2 features a dual core 1 GHz processor with 1 GB of DDR 2 RAM for faster multitasking and performance. The Galaxy tab also features Plane to Line Switching (PLS) technology based display, better contrast and colours along with wider screen viewing angles compared to the existing IPS technology based displays.
