The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has now made it mandatory for the mobile companies to provide ‘per second billing’ for its subscribers. The authority made it clear that all the network operators must provide at least one tariff plan that provides ‘per second billing’.
The TRAI has also mentioned that the telecom companies can offer up to 25 different plans for the subscribers and in some good news for the companies, it can charge up to four times the existing rates for its premium services. The services can include text messages and phone calls which made to participate in the TV and radio programmes like the reality shows.
TRAI said, “The authority does not intend to restrict the growth of services involving content nor to curb the revenue streams available for the service providers”. The telecom companies can now be allowed to change the ISD tariffs for the customers who have subscribed the lifetime prepaid cards.
Some of the leading telecom companies said that they already offer per second billing to its customers. The companies introduce the per second billing plans to lure the subscribers.
