The Indian drives are now keener in the automatic transmission vehicles than the manual transmission so as to ensure a stress free drive in the city. The automatic gear box is now gaining more popularity in the Indian market as more customers are now keen to have a stress free drive.

Some of the major auto makers like Maruti Suzuki, Volkswagen, Audi, Honda and others have reported an increase in the demand of the automatic cars. Earlier only a few customers who opted the sedans or the SUVs used to opt for the automatic transmission vehicles.

But now it seems like the trend seems to be changing also among those who opt for smaller cars like the Hyundai i10 and i20, Maruti Suzuki A Star and Dzire and also Honda’s City sedan. It has been noticed that about 20 percent of the customers are shifting away from the traditional manual gear box to the automatic transmission.

However, the shift from the manual to auto transmission is gradual but clear. Jnaneshwar Sen, the senior vice president of marketing and sales at Honda said, “The congested city roads and urban traffic warrant automatic cars. Rising traffic density and stop-and-go commuting on Indian roads result in stressful driving.” About auto transmission vehicles, it has just two pedals, the break and the accelerator, which makes it easier for driving.
