Search engine giant Google is today on May 1, 2012 observing Labour Day. Google has brought a new Doodle for its users but it is not available on the home page of Google India.

The May Day Doodle is currently available in the countries like Russia, Bahrain, China and Philippines. To view the Doodle, the users can visit google.co.hk, google.ru, google.ph and google.bh.

The Labour day also known as May day is an annual holiday , which is observed to celebrate the economic and social achievements of the workers. However, the day is not observed on May 1, in every country as they have their own days to honour the labourers.

Like US and Canada observes the day on the first Monday of September. The Labour day was originated in the labour union movement, specifically from the right hour day movement which advocated eight hours of work, eight hours of recreation and eight hours of rest. The Doodle created by the search engine shows a female worker lifting the metallic logo of Google, representing the power of labour, while the toolbox lying on the background. Google is for years known for creating the most creative and effective Doodles for its home pages to observe various days.
