Italian automobile manufacturer, Fiat is now looking forward to expand its presence in the Indian market. The company now plans to open 20 exclusive dealerships in India by the end of the year 2012.
The news was confirmed by the spokesperson of the company, which has now started to rebuild its network after it ended its distribution network with Tata Motors. Last week the company announced the end of a six year agreement with Tata.
On May 9, company opened its Fiat only showroom in Hyderabad, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier the Fiat cars were sold at Tata showrooms.
Fiat has now decided to move on solo after years of disappointing sales in the Indian market. The Indian market has a tough competition between the foreign producers like Honda, Ford, Nissan and others. Such companies have also geared up with the sales of their products so as to survive in the market. Fiat sells 20,000 cars in the country every year and has also disclosed how much it will be investing in the development of its dealer network in the country. Fiat at present sells Linea, Palio and Punto models in India and is now looking forward to introduce new models in the country.
