As expected more telecom companies are now following the suit and joining the 3G price game. Reliance Communications on May 25, 2012 announced a price cut of up to 61 percent for its 3G tariffs.
The development came after Airtel and Idea announced up to 70 percent price cut. The subscribers of the 3G services of Reliance Communications will have to pay Rs. 250 for high speed internet usage of up to 1 GB and then have to pay 20 paisa for each MB.
Initially, the charges of 1 GB data was Rs. 650 and 50 paisa for each MB used later. Sanjay Behl, the Group Head for Brand and Marketing of Reliance Communications said, “We would like our customers to enjoy Reliance 3G network with the best broadband speeds for Internet access and uninterrupted data usage at the most competitive price point across all segments”.
The subscribers of 3G data for Reliance Communications will have to pay Rs 450 for 2 GB usage instead of Rs. 710. The new plan from reliance Communications will be available in 333 towns across the 13 telecom circles where the Indian telecom has begun the 3G services. The latest development has come in the wake of low 3G tariffs across the country.
