Indian telecom operator Tata Docomo has on May 30 announced a new application for its GSM pre-paid subscribers. The new application will allow them to recharge and activate a Value added service through the popular social networking site Twitter.
The new initiative is called the Twittcom and has been indigenously developed by the team at the Tata Tele services Limited. To register to the service the customer has to go through a simple procedure – go to the twitter handle of the company @tatadocomo, type in #regand they will receive a pin code for verification through SMS.
After the customers get the verification code the subscriber has to again go to the twitter handle, key in #codeafter which the subscribers will get a retweet confirming the registration. While talking about the new initiative, Ritesh Ghosal the head of brand marketing at Tata Tele services said, “As a brand, Tata DOCOMO has always differentiated itself with its Innovations, whether it is 1p/sec pricing for calls, or advertising, efforts have always been made to add value to the lives of consumers. With the increasing consumption of Internet and the rise of social media it makes ample sense to be present on the medium where people are spending time at present or they are likely to spend time in the future.”
