Taiwanese based computer manufacturing giant Acer has on June 4 unveiled two new products that are powered by the much anticipated Windows 8 operating system. Acer unveiled its, tablets named W510 and W700 just a day before Computex which is Asia’s largest IT fair.
The IT fair will be held in Taipei this week for the 32nd time and Windows 8 will be the main focus this time. JT Wang, the chairman of Acer at a briefing in Taipei, where the comoany showed off its Acer S7, a small laptop that runs on Windows 8 said, “Windows 8 is a historic moment for the worldwide Windows eco-system”.
Acer in the past year has been struggling in terms of the tablet market. The company last year cut several hundreds of jobs in Europe so as to cut the operational expenses.
The new operating system Windows 8 is considered as Microsoft’s long awaited products for the products of Apple and mobile devices powered by Google’s Android operating system. No official release date has been released but reports say that the product might be launched in the month of October. The Computex features more than 1,800 exhibitors, registering 5,400 booths which is up by 2 percent from a year ago.
