Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel has on June 6, 2012 joined hands with Opera Software. The two companies have come to an agreement under which the customers across India, Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be able to access a customised version of the Opera internet browser on their mobile phones.
This will help the browser maker for mobile to gain access to over 253 million more customers and enhance its value, as it is being wooed by the social networking site Facebook and Google for a possible acquisition. Globally, Opera has agreements with 13 of the top 30 operators.
The Opera Mini Browser is used by more than 168 million active users it gives access to about 1.6 billion users. The customised browser will have Google search engine, YouTube and Gmail apart from various applications of Airtel which include Airtel Self Care, Airtel.com and AirtelLife on default page.
The latest deal has become the second deal by Opera in a month. The browser signed a deal with Latin American telecom company America Movil which has 242 million users. The Opera Software is known for its technology in offering browsers, especially made for the requirements of the mobile customers. It also allows the mobile users to joy more time online.
