Popular finance company Muthoot Finance in Outer Delhi’s Rohini area was on June 22, 2012 looted by four assailants. The assailants escaped with cash and jewellery worth an estimated Rs. 1 crore.
Eye witnesses said that the assailants destroyed the CCTV cameras before fleeing. But a senior police officer said that the CCTV cameras were not working. The assailants also stabbed the security guard and also attacked a woman before fleeing in two bikes.
The surprising part is that the branch is located just ten meters away from the Rohini South police station. The branch is in the first floor of the bustling Rohini Aggarwal E-Mall. The incident came to notice around noon on Friday and the assailants were armed with knives and country fire arms. The eye witnesses said that one of the assailants was unmasked and entered the bank as an assailant, while the other three covered their faces.
A senior police officer said, “When they were standing outside, the woman staff told the guard, Rajiv Mishra, to open the door”. As the doors were opened the assailants entered the premises and stood there for a few seconds and overpowered the security guard. The other assailants told the staff members to hand over the cash and valuables.
