While some people still have the dreadful memories of the 26/11 attack in Mumbai, the Delhi Police on June 25 arrested the key plotter of the attack, Abu Hamza at the Indira Gandhi International airport. Media reports say that Hamza was arriving in Delhi from the Gulf.
More reports reveal that Hamza alias Sayeed Zabi ud Deen alias Zabi Ansari alias Riyasat Ali is a suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist. Hamza is an Indian national who went to Pakistan to train people for the 26/11 attacks.
The suspected terrorist was arrested after an Intelligence bureau tip off. The arrest of Hamza is seen as a crucial breakthrough and is likely to strengthen the 26/11 case.
Reports say that Hamza was at the Karachi control room during the time of attack in Mumbai. He was also named as the dossier in Pakistan as India’s most wanted. In the year 2009, there was also an Interpol notice against Hamza. There are also chances that he might even have a hand in the 2005, IISC Bangalore attacks. David Coleman Headley, the operative of Lashkar-e-Toiba has named Hamza as the Lashkar’s India expert. Hamaz is also connected with some of the cases in Gujarat. The suspected terrorist is produced before the court which remanded him for 15 days.
