UK based laptop manufacturer, ACi on June 27 unveiled its low cost yet fully functional laptop for the Indian market. The new laptop has been named as the ACi Icon 1100 and is a fully functional 10.2 inch laptop computer launched for the Indian market.
The Allied Computers International Asia Ltd represents Aci in India. Allied Computers International will market the products here and is also listed at the Bombay Stock Exchange. Hirji Patel, the Chairman of the Allied Computers International (Asia) while talking to the reporters said, “The ACi ICON 1100 is the lowest-priced fully-functional laptop in India. It is Windows-compatible with an expandable memory up to 1 GB.”
The new low priced laptop is among the range of the seven products the company unveiled on Wednesday. The other products of ACi are mid to high end laptops.
Patel while talking about company’s ability to sell the product at such a low cost said, “as is the case with most of these products across the globe, component sourcing as well as manufacturing is done from the Far East, and our margins are very thin.” The new Icon 1100 has been priced at Rs. 4,999 and the company expects to sell 2 lakh units of the laptop in a year.
