Indian telecom company Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has stopped its promotional offer with which the customers were charged on a per minute basis. This could lead the customer to pay up to 50 percent more compared to the earlier rates on calls.
AK Bhargava, the Executive director of Wireless Services at MTNL said, “As per Trai, we can not offer more than 25 tariff plans. We are consolidating tariff plans and as a result stopped some of the promotional plans. There is no increase in tariff but we are rationalising tariff plans”. The new changed by the company in the tariff were only applicable on the plans in which the subscribers were charged on a per minute basis.
Meanwhile, the company has not announced any change in plans under which the users were charged under the per second basis for calls. The new tariff has mentioned that the MTNL subscriber has to pay 30 paise for a minute compared to 20 paise charged earlier for calls made to other MTNL users.
The new tariff is called as ‘3G Jadoo pay per minute plan’ in which the changes have been made. The plans is meant for pre-paid connection users and post-paid plans namely Super Value, Super Freedom and Plan C.
