Indian Formula One racer Narain Karthikeyan is reportedly looking forward to an improved qualifying performance at the Formula One British Grand Prix which is due to be held over the weekend. Though Karthikeyan had a troubled start to the season in Australia in the month of March, the racer has shown a consistent progression in terms of race results.
The progression includes a 15th place finish at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Indian racer has lagged quite behind in terms of qualifying but said that he has now understood the Pirelli tyres better particularly in terms of getting the best one lap performance out of them.
Karthikeyan said, “I have not been able to do the best in qualifying on fresh tyres and low fuel, but the race pace remained competitive. At Valencia though, we tried a different strategy in terms of number of runs, after we looked at the warm-up data of different compounds through the season so far and we were much closer”. Like most of the drivers Karthikeyan relished the track of Silverstone as he has raced there in junior formulae as well as F1.
Narain expressed that he does not know the new slow speed sections but it should not take long to get in to rhythm.
