Auto giant Toyota Motor Corp has joined hands with Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture to jointly test an on-demand bus system from the month of October this year till March 2015. The temporary hour units in the northern Kamaishi City will be linked by the transportation system.
The areas are affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake with the downtown area. The testing will be done so as to provide flexible transportation services for the people travelling to and from the temporary housing units. The housing units are in the areas with inadequate transportation infrastructure. The system must be designed to change as the infrastructure restoration progresses.
