Mercedes Benz is the first luxury car maker to enter in to the Indian market. But in recent times after the entry of the other giants like BMW and Audi, the first two spots were taken up by the new entries. One of the major reasons Mercedes was left behind was it did not have an SUV in its line up.

But now the German auto manufacturer is all set launch its all new SUVs in the Indian market. Mercedes is planning to launch the smaller GLA model which is yet to be unveiled by the company and will be competing against BMW’s X3 and X1.

The GLA is expected to be based on the new MFA 2-wheel drive transverse engine platform which is already shared by the new A and B class. The new SUV from Mercedes is expected to be priced at Rs. 23 lakhs while the top end diesel model will be priced at Rs. 30 lakhs.

While the second SUV will be the all new GLK and the car maker has manufactured it with a right hand drive. The next generation variant which has been code named as X205 is expected to be launched somewhere in the year 2015. At present it is under the development stage at the Stuttgart where the company has its head quarters.
