Manmohan Singh the Prime Minister of India on August 27, 2012 will make a statement in the Parliament. The Prime Minister will be talking on the coal block allocation in the Parliament in the wake of the CAG report which is issued by the opposition to attack him.
The sources from the government said that the Manmohan Singh will be making a statement in both the houses. Singh was waiting to make a statement on the coal allocation during the 2005-2009, since last week but could not do so due to the disruption caused by the opposition mainly BJP.
The prime minister is expected to rebut the charges levelled in the CAG report contending that there were inaccuracies in the misleading assessment of loss of Rs. 1.85 lakh crore. The delay in the coal block is one of the allegation made by the CAG.
Last week Singh said that he can give satisfactory answers to all the issues being raised. According to the CAG, the private firms gained to the tune of Rs. 1.85 lakh crores in the coal block allocation between 2005 and 2009. Singh is also expected to assert that there are inaccuracies in the report. Singh is also expected to say that the CAG has computed on the basis of allocation of 57 mines but one of the 31 coal blocks belong to the period prior to 2006.
