The City of Mumbai in the last 24 hours has received 185.2 mm rain, which is the heaviest recorded his season. The heavy showers had disrupted the rail and road traffic in several parts of Mumbai with the rains that continued this morning.
There were reports of water logging at the railway tracks between Kalyan and Vithalwadi on the immediate outskirts of Mumbai which means that the service at the suburban central railway are disrupted. Even many of the roads in Kalyan are water logged.
Certain parts of south Mumbai also received rainfall on September 4, 2012. On September 3, 2012 South Mumbai had received 64 mm of rain till 6 pm while the Western suburbs received 93 mm and the Eastern suburbs received 113 mm rainfall.
For the next two days the weather bureau has similar heavy to very heavy rains over Mumbai and other parts of the state. Many of the low lying areas in the city and the suburbs have been water logged which has slowed down the vehicular movement and caused massive traffic snarls on both the national highways and the other major roads. Water logging has also been reported from certain parts of Borivili, Kandivli, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Santacruz, Bhandup, Sion, Byculla and some areas in Dadar, Worli and Goregaon.
