On September 19, 2012 China was returning to normalcy after the angry protests on Japan’s wartime occupation and Tokyo’s recent purchase of islands also claimed by Beijing. High pressure hoses were used by the Beijing sanitation workers to erase the stains of the paint bombs that were hurled at the Japanese Embassy the day before.

The traffic was restored to normal after the road blocks were removed. Many of the Japanese shops, restaurants and factories in China which were shut down to avoid the protestors, were opened again. The protests have calmed down but there have been no improvements in resolving the territorial dispute between China and Beijing.
