Cricket matches between India and Pakistan have always been pressure filled, for both the teams. But on September 30, 2012 India managed to beat the Pakistanis comfortably by eight wickets in the Super Eights stage of the World Twenty20 Championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was me the hero of the match topping his best score in Twenty20 Internationals, with a brilliantly played 78. Pakistan had set a target of 128 for the Indians to achieve in 20 overs, which turned out to be a cake walk run chase.
Kohli played a calculative, confident knock, proving that he had a thorough measure of the pitch. Yuvraj Singh and Kohli had earlier in the evening picked up some wickets putting pressure on the Pakistanis, which allowed them to post an achievable target for the Indians.
Pakistan started their innings with a blast after Hafeez chose to bat, with Zaheer Khan opening the bowling for India with a poor first over, allowing the Pakistanis to get an upper hand early on; Virender Sehwag also put down Hafeez early on. Before the game there were questions raised about Yuvraj Singhs fitness, but he proved that he is back to the game with a bang by a great performance in the field. During the course of the Pakistani innings, the Indians did not allow the Pakistani team to play all the 20 overs and took all 10 wickets with 4 balls to spare. This target was achieved by India in 17 overs.
This win allows India to continue their string of never having lost to Pakistan in any ODI or T20 World cup match.
