The maiden flight of the ‘All Nippon Airways 787’ from ‘Sea–Tac’ Airport to Tokyo has been delayed by 24 hours. The inaugural flight was delayed due to a mechanical glitch. The Dreamliner was supposed to take off on October 1, 2012.
The officials said that there was a faulty part in the cooling system of the aircraft which needed to be replaced. Jean Saito, the spokesperson of the airline said that a part would be taken from another 787 aircraft for the time being as a replacement.
The new Dreamliner arrived on October 1, 2012. At the arrival of the new aircraft fire trucks sprayed rainbows of water to greet the first ANA 787. The aircraft will be the first to enter in to the airline’s commercial service at Sea-Tac. The passengers were taken to a terminal gate by the Dreamliner, which was prepared for its afternoon departure back to Tokyo, but then the delay was announced in late afternoon.
For the inaugural event, a number of Boeing, airline and Port of Seattle officials were present on to celebrate the daily service with the 787 on the new route. The Seattle – Tokyo flight was then rescheduled and is supposed to depart on 1:15 pm on October 2, 2012.
