Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has launched the upgraded version of its Alto car. The new car has been launched by the company in an attempt to retain its top position in the country’s’ passenger car market.

The petrol version of the new Alto 800 has been priced at Rs. 2,44,000 for the Indian market, and the top version of the model will cost Rs. 2,99,000 at showrooms in Delhi. The new Alto by Maruti Suzuki has been powered by an 800 cc engine, and will be a replacement for the current model, which also has similar capacity.

Maruti Suzuki will also sell the new models with compressed natural gas, which will be priced between Rs. 3,19,000 and Rs. 3,56,000. The new Alto will be directly competing with Hyundai’s Eon which has been priced at Rs. 2,75, 414.

According to our reports, Maruti will continue to sell the Alto K10 model, which is powered by a 998 cc petrol engine. Shinzo Nakanishi, the managing director of Maruti Suzuki said that the company has already received more than 10,000 orders for the new Alto. The latest model has been launched just ahead of the Diwali festival season, which will be celebrated on November 13, 2012 in India.
