India’s UPA Chairperson and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will launch the Aadhar-enabled scheme in Dudu in the state of Rajasthan on October 20, 2012. The Aadhar scheme allows cash to be directly transferred to beneficiaries under various social schemes such as ‘pension’, ‘MNREGA’ etc. By the year 2013, about 51 districts of the country will get the Aadhar enabled direct cash transfer scheme.
Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan finalized preparations for the event launch on October 19, 2012. The launch event is expected to be attended by more than one lakh people.
Official sources have stated that schemes like Mukhyamantri, BPL, Gramin Awas Yojana, MGNREGA, Pension scheme under social security, Chief minister’s scholarship scheme and Asha Sehyogi payment will be integrated with the Aadhar card. Sanjay Malhotra, the secretary of the Department of Information Technology and Communications said , “The objective of the concept is to ensure that the advantage of the government schemes and programs would reach to the genuine beneficiaries. It will help in reducing bogus ration cards and other documents and leave no space for ambiguity”.
Malhotra added that the new integration will also ensure transparency of the schemes. The secretary also revealed that a technical presentation will be given and some officers will be felicitated for their outstanding work. The implementation of the Aadhar system help in curbing corruption at the grass-root level in terms of government relates social schemes.
