US President Barack Obama spoke to the nation’s future soldiers at West Point who recently recently graduated and told them that the days ahead would be very difficult – namely the fight against insurgents in Afghanistan.
UKTN states: “According to reports, Obama also reminded them that the threat of Al-Qaeda – which is haunting the world – will not pass away soon. As he spoke to the new solders, he praised their academic achievements and also showed them a small piece of the plans which are laid down to counter terrorism in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
The president also paid a lot of emphasis on the recent Iraq war and told the soldiers that the war in Iraq was not over, and that they will now move towards Afghanistan, which will be a tougher ground to fight on. The face of the war may have changed in these nine years, but the importance of the war is same as it was when the 9/11 attacks took place.
