Finnish mobile giant Nokia has launched its new Asha 205 mobile phone which has a dedicated Facebook button, for the Indian market. The new phone has a 2.4-inch LCD display with 240 X 320 pixel resolution.

On the back of the device there is a VGA camera and the Asha 205 has 64 MB internal memory, as well as support for a micro SD card of up to 32 GB. The phone also has a 1,020 mAh battery which offers talk time of up to 11 hours and music play-time of up to 30 hours. The device has dual SIM facility and works only on 2G networks. However, it cannot access the internet through 3G or Wi Fi.

The Asha 205 is the first Nokia device which has a dedicated Facebook button and is also the most affordable QWERTY phone by the company. Nokia has priced the device at Rs. 3,499. Viral Oza, the director of marketing for Nokia India said, “Young consumers are increasingly using Facebook for communication, socializing and entertaining. The launch of the Nokia Asha 205 responds to this growing demand and gives a unique option for consumers at an affordable price point”.

The social networking site Facebook has about 65 million active users in the country. Moreover, the phone company has also introduced the Slam feature for this model, which allows users to share multimedia content like pictures, music and video.
