Indian auto giant Mahindra Auto was all set to launch its electric vehicle Reva e2o by its branch Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd. However the launch has been delayed once again to February 2013, according to media reports.

Reports have suggested that the launch of the electric car has been postponed due to the delay in the announcement of the National Electric Mobility Mission (NEMMP) by the Indian government. However, there are hopes that the company might launch the much awaited car in February 2013, if the government announces the NEMMP later in the month.

The car is expected to be manufactured at Mahindra’s Reva plant, which was recently inaugurated in Bangalore. The Mahindra Reva cars are considered to be the next generation electric vehicles in India. The upcoming e2o is a creation by the Mahindra Group’s Future Mobility plant.

The Future Mobility was revealed by Anand Mahindra, the Group Chairman. It is also the country’s first platinum certified automobile plant and has a production capacity of 30,000 cars-per-annum. The vehicle was started under the project named NXR and the e2o is powered by Reva. The name and color of the vehicle has been coined keeping the overall Mahindra Reva philosophy of being inspired by orange and green for sustainable living.
