Indian telecom giant Bharti Airtel has on February 5, 2013 launched its connectivity in Kargil. The leading telecom company offers its services in about 20 countries across Asia and Africa and now it will also provide seamless connectivity in Kargil.

This will reinforce Airtel’s pan-India coverage strength. The service in the new circle was launched by Jagbir Singh of the Bharti Airtel Group. Moreover, Airtel has also become the only private mobile company to provide services in the area.

Singh said that with the help of its network presence across the the state of Jammu and Kashmir, it will now allow users to stay connected with their loved ones across the country. The officials also said that due to the extreme weather conditions and rough terrain, connectivity has been extended to the region through VSAT links.

Connectivity has also been provided via specially designed telecom infrastructure, which can be adjusted if needed, in case of any unprecedented weather conditions. With the recent development, Airtel has now reached into the farthest destination in temrs of network coverage on the map of Jammu and Kashmir. Kargil MLA Qamar Ali Akhoon, during the launch said that the government has undertaken various measures to improve tourist infrastructure in the region.
