Auto giant Volkswagen India has decided to offer buyers a special edition of its popular hatchback Polo. The latest edition is known as the SR (Sports Racer) and has received many cosmetic changes. With the new move by the company, industry experts say that Volkswagen is making an attempt to push the sales of the petrol variant of its Polo’s.
The new model will have new skirts, a rear roof spoiler, chrome exhaust, 15-inch alloy wheels and SR badges. Certain change have also been made to its interiors like the adjustable steering wheel with mounted audio controls and a 'climatronic' AC. The SR also comes with an upgraded RCD 320 2-Din music system with 4 speakers, Aux-in speakers and Bluetooth connectivity.
The vehicle will have the same 1.2-liter, 75 BHP engine which had been fitted on the original Polo, containing a 5-speed manual gear box. The company has launched the Polo SR with a price tag of Rs. 6.27 lakhs ex-showroom, New Delhi. With this pricing, the Polo SR is slightly more expensive than the company's top-of-the-line variant – the Highline, which is offered at a price tag of Rs. 5.84 lakhs ex-showroom, New Delhi.
The sales of the Polo have been noted to have increased to 4,579 in the month of January 2013.
