A ship flagged off from Marshall Islands has reportedly been hijacked by pirates, as per the European Union Naval Force Somalia. The naval force said that numerous attempts to contact the vessel after have not been completed.

Reports say that the International Bureau Maritime, that monitors the piracy said that the number of pirate attacks has dropped sharply as compared to last year. But the bureau warned that the pirates are increasing their range up to 1,000 nautical miles out to sea from Somalia because of the international patrolling near the sea shores.

The naval force said that the vessel called MT Motivator, was a chemical tanker containing oil, and had 18 crew members, who were Filipinos on board.
