Popular music streaming service Gaana.com has launched its official Widows app. The music service is a digital arm of the Times Group and has a library of more than a million songs.
The app provides a wide range of genres from world music, Hindi movie songs, regional songs, folk songs and even the latest Bollywood chart toppers. Even before its official launch, the app is already available on other mobile operating systems like iOS, BlackBerry, as well as on java-based services. The best part about this is that the app is available for free.
Satyan Gajwani, the Times Internet chief executive said that the app has so far been downloaded around 500,000 times across all platforms since its launch in the month of January 2013. Some of the features of the app includes the ability to see what friends are listening to, playlists, albums and artists. It also provides for mobile phone or radio mode, which allows one to create their own radio stations based on the songs which the user plays.
Gajwani said that their biggest competitor is piracy and that they aim to provide a wide variety of music for their listeners, which can be easily accessed.
