Smartphone manufacturer Sony is these days trying hard to capture the market it has lost in the smartphone segment. In recent times, the company has launched some interesting products and now it is all set to release an affordable 5-inch smartphone.

For now, the company has not named the phone, but it is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2013. Media reports have said that the new smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor which is manufactured by Arima.

The other details of the phone are yet to be confirmed. Recently, the company launched its Xperia E and Xperia E-dual phones for the Indian market. The Xperia E has a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen and is powered by a 1 GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which has 512 of RAM and 4 GB internal storage.

The smartphone also comes with a 1,530 mAh battery, which the company claims provides talktime of up to 6.3 hours, or a standby time of up to 530 hours. The storage space can be expanded up to 32 GB through a micro SD card as well. The smartphone has a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with autofocus. Sony is also offering the Xperia Tipo and Xperia Tipo dual in the price range of Rs. 10,000.
