Indian mobile manufacturer Lava has launched its new smartphone Iris 455 for the Indian market, which is powered by the 4.1 Android Jelly Bean platform. The phone has a 4.5-inch screen with a 540 x 960 resolution and is powered by a 1Ghz dual-core processor, with 512 MB RAM. It also has 4GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB through a micro SD card.

The phone has connectivity features like Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth and GPS. The new Iris 455 is a dual-SIM GSM standby phone, which comes with a 1,500 mAh battery and Lava claims that it offers up to 6 hours of 3G talk time. The device has a 5-mega pixel rear camera with autofocus, which has an LED flash. It also sports a front-facing VGA camera for video calling.

The company is yet to unveil the pricing of the new device, but as it is the successor of the Lava Iris 454, the pricing is expected to be similar. The Iris 454 had just 2GB of internal storage, which could then be expanded with the help of an SD card. However, the 454 had an 8-megapixel camera, which offered better clarity and was priced at Rs. 8,499. It remains to be seen whether the new Iris 455 will enjoy the same success as the Iris 454.
