Telecom giant Vodafone India has introduced one-time trial packs for its 2G and 3G subscribers. The new trial packs have been introduced to increase the uptake of mobile internet on its network.
To avail of the new trial packs, Vodafone subscribers will have to pay Rs. 25 for a 2G plan and Rs. 49 for a 3G plan. The plans are available for pre-paid, as well as post-paid customers and come with a validity of seven days. The pack also comes with a data limit of 500 MB. Subscribers who plan to activate the service will have to send an SMS with the letters ‘TRY’ to 111.
As this is a trial offer, customers cannot purchase the offer on a paper recharge or e-top up. For all prepaid customers who are already using an internet pack, the plan will overwrite the current pack. After the offer period of seven days is over, the pack cannot be renewed. Instead, customers will be given an option to choose from existing 2G and 3G internet packs, which will be offered by Vodafone India.
It remains to be seen what the exact strategy of the company is and whether the results of the trial will allow for Vodafone to provide challenging data plans in the future.
