Nearly 17 people had died and 64 more were injured in the German Bakery bomb blasts in 2010. After three years, the court of additional sessions judge N P Dhote said on April 15, 2013, that Mirza Himayat Inayat Baig, who was the only conspirator, is guilty under sections of the terror act, along with the main accused Yasin Bhatkal. February 13, 2010, was the dreadful day that the bomb went off in German Bakery, where 17 people were killed and 64 others were injured in the blast.
The judge said that the conspirator of the crime will be awarded the quantum of punishment after hearing the prosecution and defence on the point of sentence, which will be given on April 18, 2013. The judge added that Baig has been found guilty under the sections 302, 307, 120 (b), 435, 153 (a) of the Indian Penal Code, sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Explosives Act and sections 10, 13, 16, 18 of the Unlawful Activities Act Prevention Act.
Dhote also said that charges from the mentioned sections can invite punishments up to death and life sentence with a fine. Baig was told by the court that he will be given time to make his submissions in regards to the sentence. The accused did not show any reactions when he was informed about his charges which was proved by the prosecution.
