Indian mobile phone manufacturer Micromax said that it has sold more than one million units of its Canvas range of smartphones. The company has also claimed that the sales have been equally distributed across leading metros and smaller towns in the country.
Shubhodip Pal, the CMO of Micromax, while talking about the achievement said, “The Canvas series has proved to be a trendsetter in (the) Indian smartphone segment. The demand for these devices has been on an upward curve from the time of their launch. These are our flagship models and the overwhelming consumer response has made us confident that we are headed towards the right direction.” Pal went on to say that since they launched the Canvas HD, it has been the first time that their online sales partners have witnessed such a long digital queue in cyberspace.
The CMO of the company added that for the first time they noticed that their customers had waited until 12 am for their chance to book the Canvas HD on Valentines Day, when it sold 9000 units in less than 24 hours.
The company has also positioned the Canvas series against other handset brands as a value for money. The first phone of the Canvas series was the A100, which was launched in the month of August 2010.
