The Mumbai Indians won this year’s Indian Premiere League title, as Kieron Pollard knocked out Chennai Super Kings with 60 not out off 42 balls. The MI team was motivated to inflict a 23-run defeat to the two-time champions Chennai Super Kings.
The batting line-up of the Chennai Super Kings failed to show up during the finals. There were ducks against a few of the big names in the world of cricket and this provided a shocking show for the fans and the audience of the IPL. At Eden Garden, the Mumbai Indians chose to bat first, after which they were reduced to 16 for three.
However, Chennai was then given a dose of their own medicine during the second innings, as the Mumbai Indians took three fast wickets. Dhoni at the end was 63 not out and might have regretted his decision to come out late to bat at number 7 as Chennai fell short by 23 runs.
On Sunday, May 26, 2013, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar announced his retirement from the IPL cricket, after his team the Mumbai Indians won its maiden IPL title. Sachin said, “I had to wait for 21 years to get the World Cup but for this I had to wait for only six years”. Sachin went on to say that this might be the best time to call it quits and is also happy that the sending was perfect.
