Online video sharing site YouTube has said that it will team up with entertainment company Graphic India and popular comic book writer Grant Morrison in order to launch an animated web series on the Indian epic Mahabharata, which will be titled ’18 days’.

The new series by YouTube is part of its global event called Geek Week and the first episode of the series was made available on August 5, 2013. A release from the video streaming site said that other episodes will be launched exclusively on YouTube. The series will have weekly episodes throughout the year and will be distributed exclusively on Graphic India YouTube Channel and will be available in English, Tamil and Hindi.

Gautam Anand, YouTube APAC director of Content Partnerships said, “Mahabharata is an epic story and we are very excited to bring the animated version of this great Indian epic to YouTube users worldwide”. Anand went on to say that the partnership with Grant Morrison and Graphic India for this YouTube exclusive will set the standard for more such high-quality web original series.

Graphic India was launched in recent times is owned by the US comic book company Liquid Comics and CA Media LP, the Asian investment arm of The Chernin Group, LLC.
