Two mobile carriers from South Korea, SK Telecom Co. and KT Corp. said on October 18, 2013 that they have started taking pre-orders for the latest iPhone models. The new phones by Apple are expected to hit the shelves in the country by the end of October 2013.
The new iPhone 5C and the 5S can be pre-ordered on the official websites of the two operators, as well as at their local retail stores. The iPhone 5S 16 GB version has been priced at 814,000 won and the iPhone 5C has been priced at 704,000 won. The new handsets were launched by Apple in September 2013 in the United States, China and other markets.
There were reports that the company managed to sell around nine million units in the first three days since the new phones' release. Apple added that the new devices will also be launched in other global markets during October 2013. The company launched its latest devices as it is facing a tough competition against other companies and is also struggling to maintain its global presence at the same time.
The biggest rival of the US-based tech giant is Samsung, which announced a record shipment in the second quarter of 2013 and has also maintained its stance in the global market.
