Indian computer peripherals maker Intex Technologies stated on November 18, 2013 that it had become the first handset maker in the country to begin selling Octacore smartphone in India. The company also claimed that the new smartphone will enable users to do more with their devices, as it provides faster processing speed.
Octacore represents eight processing cores which are built in together and enable users to run various applications at the same time, while the phone does not come to stand still nor heat up. QualComm, MediaTek, Nvidia and BroadCom are some of the companies which produce multi-core chipsets.
Indian company has teamed up with MediaTek and it has a goal to bring the commercial form of the smartphone in January 2014. Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, the business head for mobile phones said that the company is most likely going to price the 6-inch dual-SIM device at around Rs. 20,000.
Additional media reports have claimed that Micromax Informatics is thinking of releasing a similar octa-core device sometime during 2014. However, the company did not comment on the device plans, at least for now. As Indian makers are trying to enter the high processing arena, there are chances that prices of high-end smartphones will be reduced significantly.
