After the successful launch of the highly anticipated Microsoft’s Xbox One, the company said that it managed to sell more than one million units of the device within 24 hours in 13 countries. The one-million mark was crossed within 24 hours after the next-gen console went on sale in the morning for the first time.
Microsoft considers this to be the biggest launch in the Xbox history and a new sales record has been set for the company. Yusuf Mehdi, the Xbox corporate vice president of marketing said, “We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world. Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team.”
Mehdi went on to say that they are working hard in order to create more Xbox One consoles. The Xbox One sale started in more than 12 countries including France, Britain, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand and the United States. Fans of the latest console were spotted in lines in front of consumer electronic shops to be the first ones to get their hands on the device.
The Xbox One is the successor to Microsoft’s Xbox 360, which is the top-selling console in North America. The company’s main rival, tech giant Sony released its PlayStation 4 last week.
