After the huge success of the Ford Figo, auto giant Ford India said that it is looking to introduce a new small car in the country. The company is planning to release a new model as part of its strategy to roll out eight new vehicles by 2015.
In addition to that, Ford is looking to increase the capacity of EcoSport – its compact sports utility vehicle – in order to overcome the long waiting period for the popular vehicle. Vinay Piparsania, the Ford India Executive Director of Marketing, Sales and Service said, “We are on the verge of introducing different products and these will be from all segments. India is an important market for Ford and we will participate in the growth story of all typs of passenger vehicles”.
Earlier, the company announced its intention to release eight new products in India by 2015, out of which four are already on the roads in the country. Piparsania went on to say that the company is already on track with the launch of the other four models within the announced time frame. He also stated that they follow ‘One Ford’ policy for Ford globally and they have already announced some other concepts earlier.
The company considers the mass segment as an important one and will continue to look at the small car segment in the country.
