Indian minister Shashi Tharoor?s wife Sunanda Pushkar was reportedly found dead at a hotel in Delhi on January 17, 2014. The news of Pushkar’s death came after the reports that Tharoor?was allegedly having an affair with a journalist based in Pakistan.
The couple made headlines recently when a series of Twitter messages revealed that Tharoor was having an affair with a Pakistan-based journalist. Soon after these allegations, they claimed that they are happily married and blamed ‘unauthorized tweets’. Pushkar was a former businesswoman form Dubai and married Tharoor in 2010.
Another controversy was started when messages began appearing on Tharoor?s Twitter account, which suggested that he was in an alleged affair with journalist Mehr Tahrar. Initially, Pushkar confessed to publishing these tweets, but then denied it later on. The police says that Pushkar?s body was found in a hotel and that her husband had informed the police of her death. The cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Mehr Tehrar, the journalist who was alleged of having an affair with Tharoor tweeted that she was shocked and added, “This is too awful for words. So tragic I don’t know what to say. Rest in peace, Sunanda.” In 2010, the former UN diplomat was forced to resign amid controversy over his involvement in the bidding for a cricket team.
