The China-based flagship carrier Air China launched a brand new route, Beijing-Vienna-Barcelona on May 5, 2014. The latest move by the airline has been made in order to cater to increased cultural exchanges that are happening between Europe and the Asian nation. It has been reported that an Airbus A330-300 from China will be flying the company’s 23rd route to Europe 4 times a week.
Moreover, this will be the first direct flight from Beijing to Barcelona. Wang Yingpo from Caissa travel service in Beijing helps in leading groups on trips to Spain. In the past, the groups had to transfer in Dubai or Hong Kong, but the company’s new service will help them to save four or five hours of traveling. In addition to that, the airline will be opening a new route from Shanghai to Munich on June 6, 2014.
Air China also opened direct flights between Beijing and Geneva in 2013. Meanwhile, China Southern announced in April 2014 that it will begin a Guangzhou-Changsha-Frankfurt service in 2014. Reports say that the demand for international air passenger transport will rise 4.7 percent in Europe in 2014. Europe is also considered as an important continent for Chinese carriers who are searching for opportunities in the international market.
