China’s state media has called for ‘severe punishment’ for US tech gaints like Apple and Google.
The state media of China has vented out its anger on the internet giants Google Inc and Apple Inc along with other US technology companies on June 4, 2014.
The Chinese statement called for Beijing to punish severely the ‘pawns of the US government’ who are monitoring the country and stealing its secrets.
The People’s Daily on its micro blog said that U.S companies like Yahoo, Inc, Cisco Systems Inc, Microsoft Corp and Facebook Inc threaten the cyber security of China and its internet users.
So far the reason for this latest accusation on behalf of China is unclear. It cannot be proven whether any sort of information has been stolen by the US based firms form China. The American technology companies have constantly been attacked by the Chinese media.
Chinese allegations state that American companies have aided the U.S government’s insidious cyber espionage program. The Chinese accusations have been further strengthened by American National Security Agency contractor – Edward Snowden – revealing widespread spying programs.
Since then the Chinese firms have started to do away with the services of US companies – IBM Corp, Oracle Corp and Cisco – in favour of domestic companies.
Search engine giant Google has already had some problems in China. One of the censorship watchdog said that the service of Google was disrupted before the 25th anniversary of the 1989 crackdown on Pro-Democracy demonstrators around Beijing’s Tiananmen square.
Social networking giant Facebook has been banned in China from 2009.
The tension between the two countries has been flaring up over the issue of cyber security for a while now.
“U.S. companies including Apple, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, etc. are all coordinating with the PRISM programme to monitor China,” the People’s Daily said on its official microblog.
