Air China launches sixth new direct route to the United States.
Chinese carrier Air China has launched its first direct flight between its capital city of Beijing and Washington on June 11, 2014. Analysts predict that the move will help to boost trade between the two countries.
The flights will operate four times a week and will be a 13 hour route. This latest flight path addition by Air China will be the the sixth direct route to the US.
The vice chairman of Air China Wang Yinxiang said, “We are pleased to link two of the world’s greatest capital cities with our new service, providing greater connectivity to promote bilateral trade, commerce and tourism between our two destinations.”
The new route is a well thought of choice for the national carrier of China, as Washington is one of the important destinations for Chinese visitors.
Senior researcher Zhou Shijia at the Centre for the US-China Relations at Tsinghua University said that Beijing-Washington is a golden route and opening such a route shows the potential for huge business between the two countries.
The two countries in recent times have been at loggerheads over issues like cyber security and the South China Sea.
US officials have also welcomed the new direct route.
