His visit will last from July 13-16, during which he will meet 10 heads of state including Russain President Vladmir Putin, South African head of state Jacob Zuma, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilain President Dilma Rousseff. The summit will take place in the state capital of Ceará  – Fortaleza – in northeastern Brazil.

The BRICS summit will be held in Fortaleza after which the host president will be inviting the leaders of other South American countries – Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuala and Surinam – for a trip to Brazilia.

It is still not clear exactly how many leaders will Modi meet individually, but the focus will definitely be on meeting President Xi and President Putin.

This BRICS summit will be crucial, as all the five countries – Brazil, Russia, Indian, China and South Africa – together control a staggering $24 Trillion GDP and are home to 40% of the world’s population.

Meanwhile, President Xi is expected to visit India in September 2014 to finalize a host of bilateral and  infrastructural deals.

The international visit of Modi will miss the glare of the private media. Officials have confirmed that Photo Division, Doodarshan, AIR, ANI, PTI and UNI are the only organizations on board Air India – 1.
