World Bank Chief Jim Yong Kim and Narendra Modi to discuss key developmental issues.

President of the World Bank (WB) Group, Jim Yong Kim will be meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, on July 21, 2014. The WB chief’s meeting with the Indian première is scheduled as part of Kim’s three day official visit to the country.

The World Bank Group President will be meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during his stay in New Delhi. Kim in a statement said, “The historic mandate from the people of India represents a tremendous opportunity to unlock India’s growth potential and take advantage of its immense demographic dividend.”

The WB president added that he is looking forward to meeting Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Jaitley to understand their priorities in terms of development.

Kim added that they will also have to determine how the financial knowledge and resources of the World Bank Group can be best allocated to support India in its ventures.

The WB president will also be visiting World Bank supported project sites in Tamil Nadu, India witness the challenges that confront India’s rural urban transformation.

India is host to some of the largest World Bank projects; International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation and the International Development Association are some of those.
