Popular K-pop band Super Junior became the first act to hit 100 concerts mark.
South Korean pop boy band Super Junior became the first act in their league of bands to hold its 100th concert, at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul on September 21, 2014. The band has been on its Super Show 6 concert tour since July 2014 across Seoul, China, Thailand and Japan.
The decade old K-pop sensations aim to hit the 1,000 concerts mark as well some day.
The concert had Super Junior perform their hits Mr Simple and Sorry, Sorry, as well as their new song Mamacita. The 13 members, Leeteuk, Heechul, Hankyung, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, Kibum and Kyuhyun, are also indulging in a bit of costume play, where they dress up as characters from the 2013 Disney film Frozen during one segment of the show.
Super Junior’s 100th concert was one of three performances they had in Seoul over the weekend. Around 25,000 people thronged the concerts to welcome the return of the band’s leader Leeteuk, who recently got over his compulsory stint in the Korean military. The band will now be seen in Japan in late October this year.
Since 2008, the band has performed three Asian and two world tours, hitting a cumulative audience of 1,350,000.
